In the same way cooperatives brought electricity to rural areas that were not served by other utilities, PSREC management and Board of Directors saw and fulfilled a need to offer affordable telecommunication and Internet service in areas where it was not previously available.

We not only give you great service, but great products as well. Whether you are looking for Satellite Internet or Wireless High-Speed Internet service, we can meet your needs.

Plumas-Sierra Telecommunications Middle Mile Fiber Project

Many of the community anchor institutions in the rural Sierra region of northeastern California currently lack adequate access to the bandwidth necessary to support e-healthcare, advanced learning opportunities, and economic development. Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative plans to meet the broadband needs of these institutions by constructing 169 miles of new fiber for a middle mile network to deliver broadband speeds between 45 Mbps and 10 Gbps to anchor institutions and local Internet service providers.

 More About Our Other Services

PSREC is an innovative provider of Internet and telecommunication services – continually striving to meet critical needs of its community.

In 1994, through a partnership with the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC), it began providing DIRECTV satellite television through its non-profit subsidiary, Plumas-Sierra Telecommunications. PST provided DIRECTV service to local communities until July 15, 2011, when it's local servicer agreement expired.

In 1996, PSREC delivered dial-up Internet service through its subsidiary, Plumas-Sierra LocalNet (PSLN).

As broadband became a virtual requirement for Internet use, PSREC brought high-speed capability to its customers in 2003.  Two years later, again teaming with NRTC, the coop delivered broadband satellite Internet to its customers when it launched its Got SKY subsidiary.

In just one year, Got SKY installed more than 5,000 customers, becoming the nation’s number one provider of WildBlue satellite Internet service.

In 2007 Plumas-Sierra Telecommunications launched it's latest High-Speed Internet service option with Plumas-Sierra Wireless.

From 2008 through 2010, Plumas-Sierra Telecommunications was an Authorized Retailer of Verizon Wireless.
